Djuma Galago Camp

Lodge style Self catering group lodge

Where the Big Five roam

Djuma Game Reserve is situated in the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve which is part of the greater Kruger National Park. Djuma was started almost twenty years ago as a safari lodge by the Moolman family and is renowned for the quality of its game safaris. Our guides and trackers not only know the ways of the African bush, but are able to follow the various fascinating animals – from lions and elephants to leopards and other nocturnal animals – by reading the signs of the wild and following them, even off-road. A game safari is a once in a lifetime experience for many people and thus the quality of the safari is paramount.

Galago Camp offers a personal safari experience for family or friends at a four-star rated private camp. This self-catering lodge has five en-suite bedrooms, suitable for groups of up to 10 guests. Have the freedom to tailor-make your own African bush experience, without compromising on comfort, luxury and bush expertise.

The new Galago is located next to Vuyatela and has three luxury chalets, two of which are family units that can sleep 4 each and the third can sleep 2. The main building is a converted bush house with lovely pool and garden. There is further accommodation in the main building (it can sleep 4 in two rooms as a family unit) and then there is a garden chalet that can sleep 2. Thus there is a choice of the type of accommodation guest would like to use, the more private chalets and / or the accommodation at the main building. All rooms are air-conditioned and en-suite. It includes both indoor and outdoor cooking facilities. Guests bring their own drinks and cooking supplies for this self-catering lodge, although a chef can be arranged prior to arrival.

Tripadvisor comments Djuma Galago

This camp sleeps 10 but we came with a group of 7. This actually worked out best because to have 10 people on a vehicle at once would have been a bit crowded. What an experience. It is self catering with an offer of a chef, which many of the reviews recommended and raved about. We chose to just do our own cooking but never had to wash a dish. Ladies came to do dishes each morning with smiling faces. There are 4 chalets apart from the main building and a couple more rooms in the main building. The chalets have outside showers but there is also a tub inside if you prefer.

A group of friends and myself spent 3 nights at Galago self catering camp and enjoyed every minute. The camp has just the right amount of luxury without being ostentatious. Kitchen is well-equipped and staff are really efficient. We also had great game viewing in a good safari vehicle. Only small change I would recommend is to equip the ranger with an ear-piece so that the guests are not subjected to the enormous amount of drivel spoken on the general radio channel. I understand the need for this radio but it is a huge distraction. This is no reflection on the abilities of the ranger. Highlight was the game and especially a leopard walking past the camp in the middle of the day!
