Lion Sands 1933 Lodge

Lodge style A home away from home

Family owned lodge ideal for small groups

This Lion Sands lodge, which is a tribute to a bygone era, symbolises the character of the raw and exciting nature of South Africa. With a warm and traditional timber and thatch look throughout the lodge every traveller will feel at home. Comfort, relaxation and adventure are the key words of your stay. Lion Sands 1933 consists of just four spacious luxurious suites, all with views over the Sabi River. Amidst the silence, only to be broken by the chatter of birds and curious vervet monkeys, this is the ideal place for relaxation and an adventuruous stay in South Africa. All suites are extremely spacious, the bathrooms inviting and every suite has the luxury of an outside shower. A large kitchen is at your disposal to cook with your whole family (including a private chef). In the middle of the South African bushveld, there is always something to see and experience. When you are lucky you even have the chance seeing the Big Five roaming around Lion Sands 1933 Lodge.

Lion Sands 1933 is aboslutely ideal for small groups or families together. Unique for 1933 Lodge is that it offers a children's dormitory sleeping up to eight children. For your convenience also an interleading bedroom is available for an au-pair. You can make sure that everyone will have an aboslutely time when staying at Lion Sands 1933 in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve: kids can play in the large pool (13 metres in length), but also join on safaris. Special children activities are available and for the younger ones babysitting can be arranged at a marginal extra cost.

Activities at Lion Sands 1933 Lodge

Next to comfort and relaxation, adventure is the third key word of your stay in Lion Sands 1933. With twice daily game drives in an open LandRover you will discover the Big Five up close. Passionate and experienced rangers, who will provide you with interesting facts about the flora and fauna in the Sabi Sands, support every game drive. Besides game drives, optional bush walks are on offer every day. This activity is especially exciting for those travellers that want to capture that one stunning image from an animal from up close on foot. In addition, special hippo tours are organised -which are especially exciting for children- to discover these incredible creatures.

Tripadvisor comments Lion Sands 1933

The 1933 lodge is exquisite. For some reason we were offered an upgrade from the River Lodge, which in itself was lovely. The privacy from other groups made this a special treat. The staff was tremendous. We had our own butler and chef. The game drives were outstanding. Our guide was patient and served a terrific gin and tonic in the bush. I highly recommend staying here and especially for a larger group or family. Everything about it is special!! It will be difficult to top this experience!

The staff Lucas, Anios, Moses, Shelia and her team were first class and spoilt us at every given moment. They looked after us beautifully. Drinks were always on hand and the food was truly delicious. Shelia made sure she discussed our daily requirements before she started to cook although she had fantastic ideas and recipes without any input from us. I asked Lucas if we could have candles one night and when we arrived home from the drive the decking was awash with lanterns and the whole Lodge looked magical. They also cooked for us in the Boma one night which was truly lovely. On the evenings of our celebrations they went out of their way to make everything very special.

The property was fantastic. Right on the banks of the Sabi River with unique views of the river from every room/deck. There was an outdoor sitting area with comfortable couches, an indoor living room separated from the dining area by a fireplace. A separate tv room, pool and then ofcourse the rooms, gym and wine cellar. It was really like being in your own home and the staff went out of your way to make you feel comfortable.
